How to Integrate Filevine with Medchart

This article will describe how to set up and integrate Filevine with Medchart.

1. Log into Filevine:
https://www.filevine.com/



2. Navigate to the Products tab > select which Filevine org you want to connect to (if you have multiple orgs – if you don’t, proceed to Step 3)

3.  Select the Access Tokens tab > click Client Secrets > Obtain Client ID and Client Secret ID (highlighted in yellow in the screenshot below)

- Write both of these fields down in a separate notepad or word document – you will need to provide this information later on.

- Note: The Client Secret ID will only generate once. If you do not see it in your account, then it is likely populated under another Admin’s account. Please check with your colleagues to obtain the Client Secret ID


4. Go back to the Products tab and select your org - this will take you to the actual Filevine application


5.Click the Menu in the top left hand corner (3 lines) > select Advanced > then select Service Accounts (Note: you must be an Admin to access this tab. If you do not see this tab in your portal, please contact an Admin at your firm as they will have access to this tab)


6. Select the Org


7. Select “+ New” on the right-hand side of the screen



8. Type in a name for your New Service Account (can be anything you wish) > select All Permissions > click Create



9. Once you have clicked Create, this will set up an account and provide you with an email address


- Make note of this email address in a notepad or word document as you will require this later on


10. Once this has been created, navigate to your account in the top right-hand corner of the screen and select Manage My Account > then select Access Tokens



11. Select the “+ New” button on the right-hand side of the screen.

 


12. Create a name for the New Token (whatever you wish) > select the User (ensure you select the email address that was generated when you created a New Service Account in Step 8 & 9) > ensure all boxes are selected > click


13.  Once you click create, you will be provided with the Personal Access Token.

- Please make note of this Personal Access Token into a notepad or word document, as you will need to provide this to your firm’s Medchart CX Representative

- To view the code, click the eyeball icon to view the characters



14. Customers must request increased access to our API directly in the Account Manager. To do so, please navigate to the Client Secrets tab of the Access Tokens page. On this page, you will receive a pendo guide inviting you to accept their API Terms and Conditions and request increased API capacity. This was a change made in June of 2025, and will be the standard process moving forward for all non certified integrations. 


15. Please provide the following information to your Medchart CX Representative via email once you have received approval from Filevine for the increased access through your email:

      - Client ID (from Step 3)

      - Client Secret ID (from Step 3)

      - Personal Access Token (from Step 13)
